First Round of Invites Sent

1 comment on 423 words

We sent out the first round of invites yesterday. If nothing explodes, we'll send out a few more and try to wrap up this beta ASAP and get Lighthouse ready for the masses. The feedback we've received so far has been great, and we're squashing a lot of bugs. Amongst the bug smashing, we've also integrated some very cool features.

Search like a Googmaster

One of the great things about Google's search, is that it can be as straight forward as “Barack Obama” or as complex as “barack obama site:cnn.com filetype:pdf”, allowing you to really drill down on the information you want to see with very little hassle. We like this approach, and thus we've added it to Lighthouse.

We've been coding away all weekend at Lighthouse and have implemented tagging and a much improved search feature. Each of these features compliment the other.

Let's say you're tagging your Internet Explorer 6 problems ie6. Your IE problems lie in two areas: JavaScript and CSS. With that in mind, you're adding the tag javascript to the problems involving JavaScript and css to the problems involving CSS. Now, tags wouldn't be of much use if you couldn't find items based on a tagging scheme.

So, if I wanted to find all JavaScript problems involving IE 6 that were assigned to me, I'd perform a search like: responsible:me tagged:'ie6 javascript' state:open. When I perform that search, I get a human readable sentence letting me know what I just searched for:

“You searched for your open tickets tagged with ie and javascript.

A pretty handy feature that we look to expand upon in the coming months.

More invites coming soon

If you haven't already signed up for our notification, you should! We'll be sending out more invites in the coming days.

On a final note, we want to thank everyone for the warm welcome we received when we announced Active Reload. This is our first experience with starting a company and it's always good to start out on a positive note.
