DNS Issues

1 comment on 230 words

Engineyard had some DNS issues this morning. Sorry for the downtime.

Apparently, we’re on ancient engineyard DNS nameservers, so I’ve been instructed to update them to the current ones. There was some odd situation with the nameservers and the newer load balancers that caused them to return invalid destination entries. Everything using the new nameservers (including their external site monitoring) seemed to be working fine, which is why they didn’t catch on to the problems right away. The nameservers have been reverted, and I’ve put in the change request to godaddy for the current nameservers.

I’m told the problems started occurring about 4:30 AM PST, March 2nd. I didn’t notice it until I woke up and checked Lighthouse around 8:45 AM.

I know, this blog has turned into a real downer lately. We’ve had our heads down working on a few things and will have some big news to announce.
